We strongly urge that all submissions be made through SonicBids. It is the fastest, most reliable, and secure method we have found. If you choose not to use SonicBids – the festival cannot be held responsible for any applications that are received after the closing date of submissions. DHL would be the next choice – although the cost is pricey. Information for both methods is listed below.
1) Through an initial Electronic Press Kit submission via SonicBids.com *.
2) Sending all requested materials via DHL Courier service (the only courier we have deemed reliable enough to use to accept submissions here in Mexico) Submissions via other carriers have taken over 5 months to reach us in Mexico. The Postal service is NOT reliable.

| Artists are encouraged to use the Sonicbids.com option which offers a number of advantages.
The fees involved in the process generally will come to less than submitting via DHL and you’ll be sure that your submission will have reached us in the most efficient and secure manner. Fees are posted on the SonicBids website.
SonicBids allows you to post exactly the information we need to quickly and easily evaluate your application and puts it in a standardized format that you can use to submit to a whole range of other international festivals, events, contests and opportunities offered to Sonicbids.com members. A SonciBids full EPK includes your bio, authorized publicity photos, media clips (both audio and video), your playing schedule, set list and list of basic requirements.
** Your Guitar Fest submission fee goes directly to our charitable fund – so keep in mind that you’ll already be contributing to music education through your Sonicbids.com submission!

Each musician must fill out the application form in full and submit via fax and courier service per instructions on the form, together with all requested materials. Packages lacking the requested materials will not be considered.

- DHL International package service runs from $40 or $50 USD up per package, depending on shipping location and final weight.

(Therefore, full bands, even if they have 1 or more guitarists, and/or singers or other artists who wish to accompany a guiitarist but that do not play guitar themseleves, will not be considered.) |
About the Festival
Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo is located on the Mexican Pacific coast on beautiful Zihuatanejo Bay, 210 km northwest of Acapulco. The town and area has an entire array of attractions to divert you when you are not scheduled for Guitar Fest events. We are ranked 2nd in the world for sail fishing, are minutes away from 2 champion golf courses and our coastline boasts some world-famous surfing spots. We have miles of pristine beaches for swimming, snorkeling and the best beach sport of all, swaying in a hammock with a cold beer. Whether you want action or relaxation, let Guitar Fest be your beach vacation.
Guitar Fest is a totally sponsor-funded event, with the purpose of furthering musical education and appreciation in our area as well as promoting our beautiful destination to international visitors.
The festival encompasses a number of venues: hotels, restaurants, bars and live music spots around Zihuatanejo Bay, in central Zihuatanejo and in Ixtapa, with seating capacities from 60 to 200 and more. Opening day we have a get-to-know-you brunch and in the evening, our Opening Concert. Multiple musicians will play nightly in 45 minute sets at Gala Dinner and Bar Show events throughout the week. In addition to a week of guitar music nightly in Zihuatanejo, we also have free events open to the public. On our final Sunday, select musicians play at the downtown Guitar Fair at the square and a number of artists will be asked to participate in a free Children's Concert scheduled for mid-week. We may also ask your support for short, promotional TV and radio interview appearances. Musicians generally are asked to play the Opening and/or Closing Concerts as well as 2 to 4 formal sets during the week, leaving plenty of free time for you to explore paradise.
The invitees are guitarists specializing in any genre - flamenco, classical, blues, folk, jazz - from all across the globe. The only criteria is that they are acoustic or acoustic-electric guitarists, rather than bands or large groups, although duos, trios or small guitar groups are welcome to apply.
Our select international invitees may receive airfare, accommodations at variety of prestigious and specially selected lodging facilities in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo for the week of the festival and meals supplied by contributing meal providers and restaurants in town through a meal ticket system. Your transportation between airport and hotel and to and from venues on the nights you play will also be taken care of.
The festival is promoted internationally in the main US markets and in parts of Latin America and Europe through the channels of our sponsors and affiliates.
