During the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Guitar Festivals we were very pleased to be able to count on the presence and participation of luthiers from town of Paracho de Verduzco, Michoacan, located about 30 kms. north of Uruapan in a mountainous region which produces semi-tropical woods suitable for musical instruments in addition to crops such as corn, sugar cane and tobacco. The area is rich in arts and crafts and the talents of the Paracho artisans has long been recognized.

Paracho guitar maker Pedro Solis Cano and his colleagues have accompanied us since the Festival's inception, bringing with them each year a collection of fine handmade guitars as well as other stringed instruments and wooden crafts products. The instruments and items are displayed for sale at festival events and for Guitar Fest 2005, two of these guitars were raffled off as an additional source of funds destined to promoting music education in Zihuatanejo.

Guitar Fest 2005 also saw the participation of Les Stansell of Stansell Guitars out of Pistol River, Oregon, who during festival events gave interested Festival goers a computer presentation of his fine, hand-crafted instruments which are available only by special order.
